UNIMAID CENTRE FOR INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNOLOGY HOLDS WORKSHOP FOR SIWES COORDINATORS
The University of Maiduguri is committed to transformative reforms across key sectors in response to evolving academic needs. This was highlighted by Professor Falmata Abba Sanda, the Deputy Director of the Centre for Instructional Technology and Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) during a one-day training workshop for departmental SIWES coordinators held on Wednesday, 28th May 2025.
Professor Falmata emphasized that continuous training and re-training remain essential priorities of the Centre. She stressed that close collaboration with SIWES coordinators across departments is vital for achieving the university’s strategic academic goals. She further explained that the workshop was specifically organized to enhance the coordinators’ knowledge and technical skills, particularly in managing core aspects of the SIWES portal—such as uploading result sheets and inputting students data.
According to Prof. Sanda, the newly introduced digital mechanism has significantly improved academic processes by offering a streamlined, efficient system for result collection and one-click access to records. She encouraged participants to be attentive and be fully engaged, assuring them that the SIWES programme is dedicated to maintaining excellent academic environment supported by effective operational framework.
The workshop featured presentations by resource persons on key topics relevant to the SIWES programme.
