Interview with the Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences

Can you briefly introduce yourself?

My name is Professor Muhammad Waziri. I am from the Department of Geography and currently serve as the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences. This is my second term as Dean, which began in 2021. Our faculty encompasses five departments:

o   Mass Communication

o   Economics

o   Political Science

o   Sociology

o   Geography

What are your achievements as the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences?

During my tenure, I have prioritized staff welfare by ensuring timely promotions and addressing other welfare needs. Additionally, all departments within the faculty have successfully achieved accreditation under my leadership.

What challenges have you encountered?

Some of the key challenges include:

o   Insufficient funding

o   Limited internet access

o   Unstable electricity supply

o   Unpaid responsibility allowances

What are your future plans for the faculty?

My primary goal is to address the challenges facing the faculty. I remain open to suggestions and advice from both staff and students to drive continuous improvement and progress.

What is your message to the university management?

I urge the university management to work towards resolving the faculty's challenges. That said, I acknowledge and appreciate their ongoing efforts to tackle these issues.
