THE VICE CHANCELLOR UNIVERSITY OF MAIDUGURI RECEIVES NOTAP DELEGATION AHEAD OF IP RIGHTS TRAINING WORKSHOP
The Vice Chancellor University of Maiduguri, Professor Muhammad Laminu Mele, has today received a delegation from the National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion (NOTAP), led by its Director General, Dr. Barrister Lady Obi Amadiobi.
The visit was in preparation for a training workshop on intellectual property rights, organised by NOTAP in collaboration with Dismas Integrated Service Ltd. The workshop, which will take place at the Muhammadu Indimi International Conference Centre, University of Maiduguri, is part of the project titled "Patenting of Inventions by Researchers in Nigeria." It aims at building intellectual property (IP) capacity and raise awareness among researchers and innovators in the North-East sub region.
Mrs. Caroline, who represented the Director General during the visit, was accompanied by Professor Alhaji Salisu, the Director, Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer office of the University of Maiduguri. She disclosed the theme of the workshop as" Training Workshop on Intellectual Property and other Related Issues in the North -East" where she explained the aim of the workshop and its significance in promoting IP knowledge within academic institutions in Nigeria. 
In his remarks, Professor Mele expressed appreciation to NOTAP for selecting the University of Maiduguri as the host institution for the training. He described the initiative as timely and vital for fostering innovation and research development within the University and the region at large.
