NUC Visits Newly Established Faculty of Media and Communication Studies for Resource Verification Exercise

As part of resource verification exercise, a delegation from National Universities Commission (NUC) visited University of Maiduguri on Tuesday 16th December, 2025, to assess the available resources of the newly proposed academic programmes that include Broadcasting and Journalism and Media Studies at the Faculty of Media and Communication Studies( FCMS).

The team was received by the pioneer Dean of the Faculty, Professor Abubakar Mu'azu. 
In his welcome remarks, the Dean expressed delightfulness and described the visit as a vital step in the newly established Faculty; a step towards mantaining and enhancing the quality of academic standard.

The pioneer Dean of the Faculty briefted the team after they had an interaction with the university management. He assured the National Universities Commission ( NUC) delegation of the University's full cooperation and all necessary support to access the physical facilities of the noble Faculty, the staff and the students to ensure a smooth and successful resource verification exercise.

The team lead of the resource verification exercise, Professor Mainasara Yakubu Kurfi, explained that their mission for the visit to the newly established Faculty of Media and Communication Studies (FMCS) was to assess and evaluate the available resources of the newly proposed programmes and to ensure that the new Faculty aligns with the National Universities Commission (NUC) Quality Assurance Standard (QAS).
