The Vice-Chancellor University of Maiduguri, Professor Mohammed Laminu Mele, has commended Street Child International for donating academic books to the University. The event took place at the Muhammadu Buhari Senate building on Monday, the 20th October, 2025.
The Vice-Chancellor, who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic Services), Professor Mohammed Ahmed Waziri, expressed appreciation to Street Child International for their generous gesture and continued support to the University. He thanked the organization for its commitment to promoting education and enhancing learning resources.
Earlier in his remarks, the representative of the Country Director of Street Child International, Dr. Smart Atta, stated that the organization was in the University to present a consignment of academic books provided through Book Aid International. He explained that the books were donated to enhance the University’s library resources and to support the learning needs of students across various faculties.
Dr. Atta added that the initiative aligns with Street Child’s vision of ensuring that children are safe in school and learning. By extending this support to tertiary institutions, he said that the organization aims to strengthen educational resources, reduce barriers to quality learning, and promote academic success among the students.
