ION PAYS ADVOCACY VISIT TO UNIMAID

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Maiduguri, Professor Mohammed Laminu Mele, received a delegation from the National Blood Services Agency (NBSA) in his office on Wednesday the 12th March, 2025.

The delegation, led by the Northeast Zonal Director of NBSA, Dr. Mohammed Kabir Ahmed visited to advocate for improved blood donation awareness and sought collaboration with the university in strengthening blood support services. Dr. Ahmed emphasized the critical role universities play in promoting voluntary blood donation and ensuring a steady supply for medical emergencies.

In response, Professor Mele welcomed the delegation and commended the agency’s efforts in saving lives through blood services. He assured them of the university’s full support in achieving their mandate, highlighting the university's commitment to fostering health-related initiatives that benefit both the university community and the wider society.

The Vice Chancellor also provided an opportunity to explore potential areas of partnership, including student engagement in blood donation drives, research collaborations, and awareness campaigns that aimed at promoting a culture of voluntary blood donation.
