The Vice-Chancellor University of Maiduguri, Professor Mohammed Laminu Mele, ably represented by the DVC Central Administration, Professor Babagana Bako, urged the National Universities Commission (NUC) Accreditation Panel to conduct a thorough evaluation of the University’s newly established undergraduate programmes under the Faculty of Engineering, Education and Environmental studies.
Professor Bako made the call while receiving the NUC accreditation teams at the Council Chamber Annex of the Muhammadu Buhari Senate Building on Monday, 3rd November 2025.
The Vice Chancellor encouraged the teams to freely assess the strengths and weaknesses of the programmes and to provide constructive recommendations where necessary.
He then emphasized the importance of a hitch-free exercise, ensuring that all programmes meet the required NUC standards.
The programmes scheduled for accreditation include:
Faculty of Engineering Namely;
Chemical Engineering
Electrical and Electronics Engineering,
Faculty of Education:
Bachelor of Science (BSc Ed)
Faculty of Environmental Studies:
Urban and Regional planning (URP)
Professor Mele appealed to all Deans, Heads of Departments, and staff of the Academic Planning Unit to cooperate fully with the NUC accreditation teams and provide all necessary documents and support during the exercise.
