SALLAH HOMAGE: GOVERNOR ZULUM AND SHEHU HAIL UNIMAID'S RESILIENCE

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Maiduguri, Professor Mohammed Laminu Mele, has on Friday, led a high-powered management delegation on a dual Sallah homage to the Executive Governor of Borno State and the Shehu of Borno.

The visits, marking the conclusion of the holy month of Ramadan, served as a profound reflection on the "Nexus of Peace, Education, and Development" in the Sahelian region.

At the Government House, the Executive Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, delivered a stirring endorsement of the University’s role in the state's recovery.

Reflecting on the critical link between security and institutional growth, the Governor, an academic himself emphasized that education remains the ultimate terminal for any meaningful development.

Governor Zulum identified the University’s Mechanical Engineering Workshop and the Entrepreneurship Development Centre as pivotal partners for the State’s upcoming vocational training revolution.

Looking toward the future, the Governor announced a follow-up meeting with the Vice-Chancellor to unblock the institution's vast potentials, promising to bring the world to the doorstep of Borno State through this strategic partnership.

The narrative of courage continued at the ancient palace of the Shehu of Borno, His Royal Highness, Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai El-Kanemi.

The Royal Father offered a moving tribute to the University’s historical defiance against adversity.

He noted that despite decades of regional challenges, ranging from the eras of the Rabeh and Maitatsine disturbances to the height of the Boko Haram insurgency, the University of Maiduguri earned a global reputation for never shutting its gates.

The Shehu commended the Management for ensuring that the fire of learning was never extinguished, providing a beacon of hope for students when other institutions faltered.

Responding to these high-level commendations, Professor Mohammed Laminu Mele balanced the joy of the festivities with deep empathy for the community.

The Vice-Chancellor formally commiserated with both the Governor and the Shehu over the recent unfortunate bomb blast incidents in the metropolis.

He reaffirmed that his management team remains fully committed to providing the highest level of academic and professional service to aid the state's development.
