The Counselling and Human Development Centre (CHDC), University of Maiduguri, in collaboration with Maihula Ltd., organized a capacity-building training on 24th September 2025. The training was designed to strengthen the role of guidance and counselling within the institution.
Representing the Registrar, the Deputy Registrar, Abdullahi Gadaka, commended the Centre for its initiative, describing the workshop as a timely intervention that reinforces the university’s commitment to the holistic development of both staff and students.
In his remarks, Professor Ali Mburza, Director of the Centre for Guidance and Counselling, emphasized the vital role of counselling in academic and social life. He noted that counselling is often wrongly perceived as a service meant only for students, whereas it is, in fact, a critical support system for individuals across all groups and stages of life. According to him, “Guidance and counselling is not just for students. Every individual, regardless of age or position, requires direction, support, and encouragement at some point.”
