Unimaid Organises In-House Training for Junior Aministrative Staff

The office of the Registrar, University of Maiduguri, has organized a one-day training session for junior administrative staff of the Faculty of Arts on “Minutes, Memorandum and Report Writing in the University System”.
The training session was facilitated by Mr. Madu Ndirmbula and Mr. Saidu Garba of the Registry Department, University of Maiduguri.
He further reiterated that effective minutes capture requires the use of clear and objective language by avoiding personal opinions or interpretations as "minutes serve as a reference for participants, ensuring accountability and tracking progress". They also serve to facilitate follow-up actions and provide a historical record for future review.
In the second session, Mr. Madu Ndirmbula provided highlights on effective administrative reports and memorandum writing. He pointed out that effective administrative reports and memoranda are crucial for clear communication. Reports provide detailed analyses and recommendations, while memos deliver concise information or requests. He further noted that both require a structured format, using headings and subheadings for clarity. Memos however, prioritize brevity, focusing on the purpose, action required, and relevance of context.
He added that clear and concise language is essential in both. staff should avoid jargon and ensure the document's tone aligns with its purpose and audience. simialrly, proofreading for grammatical errors and clarity is vital for effective communication.
