Dr. Mala takes over as Director, Centre for Peace, Diplomatic and Development Studies

Dr Mala Mohammed Mustapha Assumes Role as Director of CPDDS, University of Maiduguri
Dr Mala Mohammed Mustapha, from the Department of Political Science, officially assumed the position of Director of the Centre for Peace, Diplomatic, and Development Studies (CPDDS), University of Maiduguri, during a brief ceremony held on 10th March 2025 at the Centre’s Conference Hall.
This appointment follows the conclusion of the tenure of the outgoing Director, Professor Abubakar Mu’azu of the Department of Mass Communication, who served from 16th February 2019 to 10th March 2025.
The handover ceremony was attended by distinguished guests from various faculties and departments, as well as a representative from the Directorate of Media and Information Unit, University of Maiduguri.
As the new Director, Dr Mala Mohammed Mustapha takes on the responsibility of overseeing the Centre's activities, which focus on promoting peace, conflict resolution, and development through education, research, and training. His leadership is expected to maintain and further develop the strong foundation established by his predecessor.
In his remarks, Dr Mala assured staff and students of his commitment to building on his predecessor’s legacy and to advancing the Centre’s mission of promoting peace and diplomacy through innovative research and impactful training programmes.
