In-House Training for Junior Administrative Staff on Writing Skills

The Office of the Registrar, University of Maiduguri, organized a one-day training session for junior administrative staff of the Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine. The in-house training, focused on "Minutes, Memoranda, and Report Writing," took place on Monday, March 17, 2025, at the Faculty of Agriculture Board Room.

The training featured three sessions, all facilitated by experienced personnel from the university's Registry department. Mr. Sa’idu Garba led the first session on minutes writing, where he demonstrated effective techniques for creating clear, concise, and accurate meeting minutes. He emphasized that minutes should align with the meeting agenda and avoid verbatim reporting. He highlighted the critical role of the agenda, stating, “No agenda, no meeting.”

The second and third sessions, facilitated by Mr. Madu Ndirmbula, focused on report writing and memoranda. Mr. Ndirmbula underscored the significance of report writing within the university, noting that reports serve as valuable records for future reference, providing detailed information for analysis and recommendations. On memoranda, he stressed that they are essential for clear and concise communication within the university, often used for requests or conveying important information.

The training aimed to enhance participants' skills in accurate documentation, strengthen their understanding of administrative processes, and reinforce the importance of effective communication within the University of Maiduguri system.
