UNIMAID TEAMS RECORD IMPRESSIVE PERFORMANCES AT NUGA GAMES
The University of Maiduguri teams have continued to make their mark at the ongoing Nigerian University Games (NUGA), recording a series of remarkable victories across different sporting events.
In male hockey, the Desert Warriors edged past the University of Jos with a narrow 1–0 win before demolishing Bayero University, Kano (BUK), 12–1 in a thrilling encounter.
The male handball team also displayed dominance, defeating the University of Jos convincingly by 17–4.
In football, UNIMAID maintained their unbeaten run with a solid 2–0 victory over Aliko Dangote University, Wudil.
The volleyball teams had mixed fortunes as the UNIMAID Spikers (male) overpowered Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, 3–0, while the UNIMAID Queens (female) lost 0–3 to the Federal University of Technology, Owerri.
However, in the female hockey category, UNIMAID narrowly lost 0–1 to the University of Jos in a closely contested match.
Overall, the University of Maiduguri delegation has shown impressive form and resilience across the games, reflecting the institution’s growing strength in university sports. With their current momentum, the teams remain optimistic about securing more medals as the competition progresses.
