UNIVERSITY OF MAIDUGURI HOSTS TETFUND MONITORING AND IMPLEMENTATION COMMITTEE

The Vice Chancellor of University of Maiduguri, Professor Mohammed Laminu Mele hosted TETFund Monitoring and Implementation team in his office, at the Muhammadu Buhari Senate building on Tuesday,  May 20th, 2025.

While welcoming the team, Professor Mele disclosed that as a citadel of learning, the University remains committed to providing a productive knowledge base, fostering research, and driving innovation as key mechanisms for thriving in the 21st-century.

The Vice Chancellor further stated that as the premier university in the North East, University of Maiduguri continues to expand its frontiers by engaging in groundbreaking research and innovations across various fields. These efforts are aimed at benefiting not only the geo-political zone but also the nation at large.

He emphasized that the University’s proven track record of excellence and productivity has made it a mentoring hub for emerging tertiary institutions in the region. It is also recognized as one of the leading collaborative universities in research and other academic endeavors across the federation.

Earlier in his remarks, Professor Ibrahim Iliya, the Team Lead for the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) Monitoring and Implementation of 2021 National Research Fund (NRF),  who also serves as Director of Research and Innovation of the University, stated that the exit meeting was organized to brief the Vice Chancellor on the progress achieved by the team.

He further explained that the team had conducted a comprehensive review, which included site visits to TETFund project locations within the University and meetings with individual research recipients. These engagements he added are aimed at gathering open and constructive feedback to guide the University’s management on the way forward.
