The next NUGA Games will take place in Jos, Plateau State, in November 2025, featuring representatives from universities across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.

Speaking with Unimaid Bulletin in Gombe on Saturday, 27th September 2025, the University’s Director of Sports, Professor Mohammed Nayawo, commended the athletes for their remarkable performances, which earned the institution a place in the national event. He further praised the coaches for their professionalism and urged them to intensify training sessions in preparation for the main competition. Professor Nayawo also expressed gratitude to the university management for their support and sponsorship, assuring that the athletes would strive to win medals in Jos.

Similarly, the Deputy Director Sports, Amos Chiroma, lauded both the players and coaches for their commitment. He encouraged coaches to commence immediate training ahead of the games, adding that the University of Maiduguri athletes are determined to surpass their previous performance at the last NUGA Games held in Lagos.

The Sports Finance Officer, Mallam Musa Gulani, and the Sports Medical Personnel, RN Abdulnazif Mohammed Abubakar, both appreciated the University management for providing adequate funding, medical supplies, and equipment to ensure the welfare of athletes and officials during the competition.

Athletics: Female 100m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 2000m, 3000m, 4x100m relay, 4x400m relay, 100m hurdles 400m, Male 4x100m relay, discus and long jump.
