UNIMAID VC RECEIVES MEDICAL WOMEN ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA ON A COURTESY VISIT

The Medical Women Association of Nigeria (MWAN) has paid a courtesy visit to the vice chancellor of University of Maiduguri, Professor Mohammed Laminu Mele to congratulate him on his appointment as the substantive Vice Chancellor of the University and to familiarise themselves with the University's management.

The association, led by the MWAN President, Doctor Anna Peter, was received by the Vice Chancellor Professor Muhammad Mele at the Mohammadu Buhari Senate Building of the University of Maiduguri, on Wednesday the 9th of April, 2025.

Doctor Anna revealed that the MWAN executives are largely alumni of the prestigious University of Maiduguri and are engaged in medical practice and teaching within the faculties of the University of Maiduguri, Teaching Hospital and the University of Maiduguri Medical Centre. 

She further appreciated the University's management for granting their members opportunities to teach and mentor medical students despite being professional doctors and assured the university management of their continued support and cooperation.

The Vice Chancellor University of Maiduguri Professor Mohammed Laminu Mele, in his response reiterated the University management's effort in maintaining the standard of the Medical College as the Centre of Excellence while assuring them of his support to all professional bodies.

He further called on MWAN to join forces with the university in mobilising it's members both within the country and in the diaspora to support the University in the upcoming Unimaid @50 Celebration to mark the 50th anniversary of the university of Maiduguri.
